This trimmer looks a lot like my cub cadet bc 280
The putting the carb back on is the part I’m going to need help with lol
Could you possibly tell me what could be the problem with the same kind of lawnmower? It does not blow the grass out of the side chute. It just blows out everywhere. It's just one big filthy mess. It's getting wrapped around the front wheels It tries to come through every outlet it can. Getting ready. I had a repair done and when I brought it back home it is now doing this. I don't know what the problem is. And I'm 100% sure it wasn't doing it before I took it in for repairs. Your help would be greatly appreciated
I
So what was it?
No way I would sell it. I have one now that starts in then stops. I don’t wanna pay another man to weed whack my yard. They charge too much to use my Weedwhacker
What’s the app called
That is one ugly mower
After 3 months it’s old
I have a 22" self propled Toro, about a year old, whose drive wheels KEEP FALLING OFF! The bolt just comes loose.. ...and the wheel falls off. Any ideas? ANYBODY!
Btw love your vids and I am 12 and I know all about weedeaters and all that stuff and I could tell you anything about a carb or something and I made a few videos on working on stuff but I quit because I don’t have enough time
Worst 2 cycle engines ever built
So the curb find trimmer ran off the fuel that was squirted in the carb and died. Quit leaving fuel in the machine over the winter.
That mower didn’t last a summer garbage😂
Mine is a 2005 Tecumseh. I work on it myself. It's still running great although it does burn a little oil after 19 years.
I drain all of my small engines prior to storage for winter to prevent gumming it up. and hardening and wrinkling the diaphragm
My honda 1000 idles and puts out 110v but won't accelerate when under heavy load? Is that a governor problem?
Like a lot of ithers have already said, add oil and try it - it was free! If it runs, then check the crank and/or flywheel key It's possible that the oil came out the air filter when they filpped it over to the wring side to check underneath like a lot of people do. Worat case - do an autopsy on it. Honda parts are still easy to find and relatively cheap. It'd make a great video! I saved a toro commercial with a Honda last summer with a set of rings. Decided to do the belt and seals while I had it apart even though they seemed fine. It will probably outlast me 😊
Does the little hose connectors on the fuel lines serve any other purpose like restricting the fuel flow so it doesn’t run too rich?
Man I wish I had your luck finding mowers. No free or cheap ones on the sites in my area. Everyone seems to be trying to get close to new prices
That is a surprise for a 2012 model mower with good paint since the mtd machines the paint peels. If you look at it the wrong way , I have made my shares of mistakes also we learn from it and move on and get better.
It was free, so put some oil in it and see what happens. Good luck.
Where's the missing air filter?no wonder compression was low
incorrect carb air ratio
Keep the spark arrestor, not starting a grass fire is more important than 1% of power.
Turned out the carb was loose. Tightened it down and was good to go
Try to start after adding minimal oil. Check piston and cylinder, plus plug and compression. If low compression it is most likely too far gone and not worth repair or replacing engine. Depend on time and money to invest but only for your own benefit.
Sucks when the weed eater is more capable than you are ! Learn before you try to burn the best company out their !!!!
Hey bro what's up? My guess is that the sump has a very big crack or the gasket is gone.
Where does that top hole behind the air filter lead? Is that the air intake? Also, is it a bad idea to spray any starter fluid in there? 😅
First thing I do with a mower that struck something is remove the spark plug, lock the handle bail, flip it up and give it a pull while watching blade bolt spin to see if the crankshaft is bent. If it’s bent I straighten it out then proceed from there (flywheel key, oil leak etc).
I’ve tried everything else under the sun on my mower, but the one thing I didn’t do was take a wire tie to the jet. If this doesn’t work I’m going to set the thing on fire and get a new one. I did not know the jet assembly came apart. Thanks for the demonstration. Wish me luck.
good luck!
My neighbor had a mower that was bone dry, no oil at all. It was even locked up, it would not turn over when you pulled the cord. I put some oil in it, pulled the spark plug wire off and turned the motor by the blade to get it freed up. I put the spark plug wire back on and started it up. It ran like a champ didn't smoke nock at all, ran great. Sold the mower a few months later.
good work!
It says Honda right on top, so what you do is….add oil, fuckin give ‘er, bud. If it runs, great. If not, put 20 or 30 bucks and the same amount of minutes into it, or just toss it. It ain’t rocket surgery.
well said
I would probably call for a moment of silence and then play the military rendition of TAPS.Then out of curiosity I would take it apart without cleaning anything so I could see where the oil catastrophe is located
this one turned out to have a very slow leak, and to be honest I think them hitting something with it, might have saved it. You'll see what I mean
I know what's wrong with it ain't got no oil in it
LOL!!!! I was wondering who was going to say it!
I'm waiting on the repair video.
working on it now
Is there hole in engine behind muffler? I picked one up Saturday lr wheel mount broke propped it up to fix. Oil running out hole in block. Decent mower junk engine. I would put oil in it see if it runs
no hole but there is a leak however it took a day to figure out it was leaking though.
Give it a yank just to see. Got to have oil. Crank and seal might be shot. Time will tell! Get it home.
you're already ahead of me!
@@HomeGaragechannel But not far!
First thing to do is to flip over the mower. If the blade is bent up, most likely the shaft is bent too. If the shaft is bent, the mower is just parts. Quit now while you're ahead, don't waste time trying to fix it.
A bent crankshaft doesn't mean it's dead. A piece of black iron pipe, and a bit of effort, and you can straighten it. Can also break it, but better than beating the shit out of it with a hammer. 😊
laid it over on it side, one side of the blade has a slight bend to it, but the shaft is not bent
you would be correct
@@demcomp here is one BIG problem trying to bend back the shaft. The Shaft is hardened steel. the crankcase of the mower is soft cast aluminum/alloy. You're more likely to crack the aluminum than to straighten the crankshaft.
@@scrapman502 you will have to show me that happening... If the deck cracks, oh well. Strip it and drop it off as scrap, and get $0.50/lbs on it. It's not like it's a complete loss. Sell the wheels, sell the handle, sell the ... "Insert part here"...
Put some oil in it, & fire it up.🤓
that's the plan
That engine looks like its gonna smoke like a freight train.
if it had oil in it, it sure seems like it.
Time and time again you have been able to get those little engines running in these situations. Hopefully this one isn't too far gone.
you already know it. To spoil it for you, it wasn't as bad as it looked, however I did have one nasty hiccup forcing me to do a repair I've Neve done before.
Maybe bad quality control
I have to agree with you on that.
I still currently use my Mountfeild Multitrim Model 37 (1990) with a Zenoah G4C Engine. Absolutely flawless kit of trimming engineering! I prefer the older models to the modern ones. The only newest one I have is a Spears and Jackson from 2007! :D
yes, the older machines were fantastic!
Why are you working on the grass? Lose many screws and nuts? Replacing the drive belt can be done without removing as much as you did. I’ve done it. Wonder if the design engineer at Toro received a bonus for his design?
Filming in the garage looks like I'm working in prison. Yes I've lost a few, but most times the magnets pick up 99% of them. and thanks for letting me know about the belt.
what are your recommendations for starting a small engine repair business? what skills would you need and where would you look for tools that need fixing? any advice would be appriecated!!
on the repair side, you'll need to be have a lot of patience, something of an analytical way of thinking and some organizational skills. But on the business side, you'll have to know how to keep books, deal with customers, and even more patience because bureaucracy is a real thing
Outstanding video, THANK YOU! Easy step-by-step instructions that work. An easy but stupidly laborious 2 hour job for first-timers like me, but probably done in 45 minutes after you've done it once before and no longer need to figure out what tools you'll eventually need and watch the video while working.
thanks, and your times seem to be spot on!
Way too complicated
not really If it is, then just order a new carb.
That looks like it has been left out in the weather? Not a good idea. Mine still look new & they are 15 years old. Always stored inside in a temperature controlled room & out of direct sunlight. Off the floor & out of the way.
yes if I recall this one is left on their landscaping trailer
